Paul Little left Dallas Center High School in 1946 before his senior year, choosing to work on his family’s farm in Guthrie County. The decision cut short a post‑war education that many of his classmates completed that same year, reflecting the era’s demand for immediate income over schooling.
Over the next decades, Little farmed and raised a family while quietly supporting local students. In 2010 he pledged $50,000 to the DCG Education Foundation, sparking an annual scholarship program for graduating seniors. Kasey Huebner, superintendent of Panorama School District, praised his generosity, saying “For the last 15 to 18 years he’s given money out to help our kids get jump‑started to the next stage in life.”
On September 17, 2026, officials from the Dallas Center‑Grimes Community School District surprised the 98‑year‑old with his overdue diploma at his nursing home. Scott Blum, superintendent, told reporters, “We’re excited to play just a little role in recognizing the awesomeness that is a guy like Paul in our community.” The gesture honored a life that began in the classroom and was completed through giving.
Little’s donation now funds more than 30 scholarships each year, enabling students to pursue college or vocational training. The scholarship program, announced by the school board in 2018, has helped over 400 students graduate with reduced debt, lifting families out of financial strain.
