Bikram Majithia stood before a press conference on Tuesday, demanding that AAP leaders produce indisputable proof linking him to the ₹736‑crore drug trafficking case, otherwise he would pursue legal action. He cited the lack of a direct connection between his assets and alleged drug money, noting that four Special Investigation Teams had been set up yet failed to establish the claims.
The allegation stems from a disproportionate assets case that first surfaced in 2021, with Majithia's property and vehicle holdings under scrutiny. He argues that the AAP government has been using the case to deflect attention from Punjab's worsening law‑and‑order situation, and he references his lawyer DS Sobti, who said the financial documents in the DA case cannot automatically be treated as evidence of drug trafficking.
Kejriwal, who apologized in 2018 over past accusations, rejected Majithia's claims, insisting that the evidence presented in court is exhaustive. He said the AAP will continue to cooperate with the judiciary and that any allegations against Majithia will be addressed through proper legal channels.
Majithia highlighted that the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court have already examined the matter, and he urged the court to order a fresh investigation. He warned that the AAP's repeated political statements risk undermining public trust, and he called for the AAP leadership to either present proof or apologize.
The case is set to be heard by the Punjab and Haryana High Court next month, where the court will decide whether a formal inquiry is warranted. The outcome will have implications for both parties, as the AAP faces allegations of political opportunism, while Majithia seeks to clear his name in the public eye.
