For anyone eyeing a high‑end electric SUV, Volvo's new EX90 hits the Indian market at ₹1.26 crore and promises a WLTP range of 625 km.
That puts it squarely against Tesla Model Y (₹1.06 crore, 525 km), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹1.07 crore, 480 km) and MG ZS EV (₹81 lakh, 380 km). The EX90’s 456 hp and 670 Nm torque give it a 0‑100 km/h sprint of 5.5 s, a figure only a handful of competitors match.
Under the hood sits a 106‑kWh SPA2 pack that powers a twin‑motor AWD. The driver gets 456 hp and 670 Nm, with a single‑speed transmission and a top speed capped at 180 km/h. The 106‑kWh pack also allows the EX90 to offer six seats, a 2+2+2 layout that’s rare in this class.
Volvo will roll the EX90 out of its Chennai plant in the first quarter of 2027, with initial deliveries slated for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Buyers should keep an eye on the next‑stage pricing in other cities, the availability of the 92‑kWh variant, and how Volvo’s safety suite stacks up against rivals’ driver‑assist tech.
