Chandrababu Naidu spent his fourth day on the ground in Andhra Pradesh, personally tracking the recovery of power and infrastructure after Cyclone Arnab struck. He reviewed restoration progress in the Mogalturu region, speaking directly to field staff to ensure operations stay on a war footing. The Chief Minister made it clear that the state government would not pause until every single affected resident receives aid.
The numbers tell the story of rapid recovery. By 10 am Thursday, APEPDCL had restored electricity in 4,881 of the 5,404 hit villages—a 90% success rate. Of 552 damaged substations, 513 are live, with crews working on the remaining 39. Supply is fully back in Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, and Eluru. However, Konaseema and West Godavari remain the toughest front, with 393 villages still in the dark.
Infrastructure repair is nearly complete. Authorities removed all 2,270 fallen trees from roads, including 1,334 in Konaseema alone. Traffic has resumed at 119 of 137 cut locations, and 661 of 1,045 mobile towers are back online. The Water Resources Department finished temporary repairs at all 100 damaged sites, covering 78 tanks and 22 canals.
The storm brought devastation, but also a water windfall. Heavy rains between October 26 and 29 pushed 380 TMC of water into the state. Reservoirs gained 4.68 TMC, small irrigation tanks received 22 TMC, and groundwater levels rose by an estimated 44 TMC.
Now the focus shifts to agriculture. Crops across 3,52,254 hectares in 16 districts were inundated, with horticultural losses hitting 23,211 hectares. Central assessment teams are expected soon to verify these figures. The state is preparing a detailed loss report to seek central financial assistance for the farmers.
