Supreme Court Justice M M Sundresh and Justice Prasanna B Varale, sitting on a bench Friday, directed former JD(U) MLA Anant Singh to surrender to authorities by Dec 1, 2026 in the Dular Chand Yadav murder case.
The bench also ordered the Bihar Police to complete the investigation within four months, after which the case was forwarded for further hearing.
Singh, expelled from the JD(U) in September 2023 for alleged anti‑party activity, had earlier been arrested in October 2025 for allegedly orchestrating the killing, and was granted bail by the Patna High Court in March 2026.
The Supreme Court’s order follows the Patna High Court’s earlier decision to grant bail, a move that the JD(U) party has strongly opposed, citing the gravity of the murder.
Singh faces the threat of arrest if he fails to surrender by the deadline, and the court will review the investigation findings once the four‑month period concludes.
