Norman Macksoni, 48, Richard Wilkins, 62, Connor Sanderson‑Doyle, 32 and Mohammed Hassan, 38, stand accused of raping a woman who was drugged and filmed by her former husband, Philip Young, during a span of seven years from 2016 to 2023. The case is being heard at Winchester Crown Court.
Young, a former Swindon councillor now living in Enfield, pleaded guilty earlier this year to 11 counts of rape, 14 of voyeurism, 11 of administering substances, and other offences after police seized his devices and uncovered dozens of videos. His admissions reveal a pattern of abuse that feeds into the current trial.
Prosecutor Sarah Jones KC presented evidence that Young drugged his wife, Joanne, to render her unconscious, then invited strangers to rape her while he recorded the acts and posted images on Craigslist, Grindr and swinging sites. The prosecution argued there was no evidence of Joanne’s consent to the strangers’ encounters.
Defendants have denied the charges, calling them baseless. The jury will consider whether the alleged men acted with knowledge of Joanne’s incapacitation. The judge has warned the court that the case involves complex issues of consent and exploitation.
The trial will run for up to four weeks, with the jury hearing evidence until mid‑October. Verdicts are expected by then, after which the defendants may face severe prison terms if found guilty.
