Indian Army and security forces conducted an operation in Budgam targeting Hashim Musa, a senior LeT commander.
M Musa, a 42‑year‑old former Havildar of Pakistan’s Special Services Group, retired on 31 March 2023 after nearly 23 years of service.
Mura’s record includes guarding former President Pervez Musharraf, counter‑insurgency in Balochistan, operations in Kurram and Waziristan, and peacekeeping in Sudan.
Security agencies linked him to the Dera Ki Gali attack on 21 December 2023, the Gulmarg assault in October 2024, and the May 4, 2024 IAF convoy ambush that claimed a soldier’s life.
The encounter culminated in his death, ending the life of the ex‑commando turned terror chief.
Musa’s wife Abida and three daughters lived in Rawalpindi’s New Chakra, while his family roots trace back to Attock district’s Dhok Maliyar village. Security agencies will continue searches for other terrorists and weapons, extending operations over the coming week.
