The board of HDFC Bank announced that Anup Bagchi will take the helm as MD‑CEO from Oct 27, 2026, following clearance from the Reserve Bank of India.
Bagchi, currently MD‑CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and former Executive Director of ICICI Bank, brings over 30 years of experience across banking, capital markets and wealth management.
Sashidhar Jagdishan will conclude his tenure on Oct 26, 2026, and the board has already approved Bagchi’s remuneration under Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act. Bagchi has also been appointed as an Additional Director effective Oct 2.
Shareholders will vote on the appointment at the forthcoming AGM on November 12, 2026, which will decide whether Bagchi’s leadership takes effect.
