Shakespeare Sarani Police Station officers arrived at Banerjee’s Kalighat home on Wednesday, serving a second notice after the MP had emailed police requesting a 48‑hour postponement.
The first summons, issued Sunday evening, followed Banerjee’s return from Delhi, where he had joined protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.
The case centers on a billboard that TMC had erected on Camac Street, which municipal officials removed in August after workers resisted, creating chaos on the 27th.
Police now expect Banerjee to appear before investigators on Thursday, a step that could lead to a formal court hearing. A shopkeeper on Camac Street warned that repeated disruptions threaten local businesses, highlighting the human cost of the bureaucratic clash.
