A grey Maruti Alto, registered UP16CB9473, punched through the footpath of Knowledge Park on September 18, striking four university students—Gaurav, Aayush, Krish, and Mohit—while the driver, Manish, fled the scene.
Gaurav, 21, sustained a fractured leg; the others sustained minor injuries. The vehicle arrived at a traffic police checkpoint hours later, where authorities seized the car and tracked the driver.
DCP Ravishankar Neem confirmed that the driver, employed by a local real estate firm, was apprehended within hours and brought to the Greater Noida police station.
Police filed a case under sections 304A and 279 of the IPC, and the incident is now under investigation for possible negligence and hit‑and‑run charges.
The incident has sparked outrage among students, with a group demanding stricter enforcement of speed limits in the Knowledge Park area.
The case will be examined in court next month, where prosecutors will seek a custodial sentence for the driver.
