On Friday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs announced that all 14 Indian nationals aboard a dhow off Hodeidah are safe after a reported attack.
Randhir Jaiswal, the MEA spokesperson, said the vessel was located near the port and that Houthi forces had reportedly rescued the crew after Saudi jets allegedly struck a yacht near Yuqar Island. Jaiswal added that the Indian mission had reached out to parties on the ground to establish the circumstances.
The incident comes amid escalating clashes between Iran‑backed Houthis and Saudi Arabia, which already saw an Indian national killed and three injured in separate attacks on a Saudi airport and oil field earlier this week.
Jaiswal emphasized that India remains committed to the welfare of its citizens abroad and will work through community volunteers and local contacts to facilitate a safe return.
The ministry has set a June 5 deadline for arranging flights and will keep the government updated as arrangements progress.
