IndiGo has extended the cancellation of its flights to Saudi Arabia until 27 October 2026, citing escalating Houthi drone and missile attacks.
The extension follows a Wednesday drone strike that killed an Indian national, a 28‑year‑old engineer from Jaipur, and injured two others at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, while a separate attack on Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oilfield wounded a 35‑year‑old contractor from Gujarat.
Earlier this month the Indian Embassy in Riyadh warned of a strike on King Khalid International Airport that also claimed an Indian life, prompting safety advisories and earlier flight suspensions by Air India and Air India Express until 24 October.
Air India’s operations to all Saudi routes have been halted, while Akasa Air has suspended flights to Jeddah until 10 November and to Riyadh until 30 November, reflecting a broader industry slowdown.
The Ministry of External Affairs is coordinating with airlines and tour operators to bring Umrah pilgrims home early, while the embassy and consulate set up 24‑hour help desks and provide welfare assistance to stranded Indians.
With 2.74 million Indians living and working in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry urges citizens to follow Saudi authorities’ instructions and to seek alternate routes via Bahrain, Kuwait or Qatar, as IndiGo monitors the security situation for further adjustments.
