The recall announcement came after Honda confirmed that a handle‑lock fixing nut on Rebel 500s built from April to August 2025 might have been left at a lower torque than required. If the nut loosens, it can compromise steering stability, a safety issue that could affect rider confidence.
Only 96 Rebel 500s sold in India during that period are in the scope, and none of the bikes have yet been involved in a reported incident. The company is treating the matter as a precaution, offering the nut replacement free of charge regardless of warranty status.
Honda will start the replacement drive on November 1, 2026, at authorized BigWing dealerships. Owners can check their bike’s eligibility by entering the VIN on Honda’s recall portal, after which a dealer will arrange a free workshop slot.
While the recall may seem like a minor fix, it underscores a broader trend of tightening quality controls across the industry, especially amid increased scrutiny from safety regulators and growing consumer demand for reliable, maintenance‑free bikes.
