
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed his commitment to reach a developed India by 2047 during a speech at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Modi, who has been the head of government for 25 years, reflected on milestones that shaped his tenure, citing the 2001 Bhuj earthquake, Chandrayaan‑1, and the COVID‑19 crisis as pivotal lessons.
He credited the RSS swayamsevaks and karyakartas for their unwavering service, saying, "There are countless swayamsevaks who are guardians of India’s cultural soul, with one sole purpose: to serve Bharat."
The prime minister also praised the media for inspiring him to move forward amid bitter‑sweet experiences and highlighted India’s civilisational heritage as a source of resilience.
The address, which comes ahead of the upcoming policy review cycle, is expected to set the agenda for the government’s development programmes and outline concrete steps toward the 2047 target.
