Three women filed complaints against ACP Vivek Bhagat after a protest on 2 October 2026 outside Sansad Marg police station, accusing him of sexual misconduct and pushing a female journalist backward. The protest was part of a larger march demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The police responded by filing an FIR and handing the case to the Delhi Police Crime Branch.
Bhagat, who has served as ACP of the Connaught Place Circle since 2024, survived a violent assault in June 2026 when a mob broke into the Jantar Mantar area, leaving him with broken teeth and multiple injuries. He spent several weeks on medical leave before returning to duty. The officer’s record includes leading the Delhi Police contingent at the 2022 Republic Day Parade and receiving commendations from the Defence Secretary.
Amid the investigation, police uncovered a separate incident involving an AI‑generated video that allegedly defamed Bhagat. Nadeem Ahmed, a resident of Nuh in Haryana, was arrested on charges of creating and circulating the clip on social media. Authorities are probing whether the video was part of a larger conspiracy.
The Delhi government has suspended Bhagat’s appointment as Additional DCP (CDC) pending the outcome of the probe. The officer has asked that the posting remain on hold until the investigation concludes. The next step will be a formal inquiry by the Crime Branch, with a decision on his future role expected before the end of the month.
