If you’re hunting for an electric off‑road machine in India, Jeep’s announcement signals a forthcoming contender that will blend iconic 4x4 prowess with EV efficiency.
Stellantis CEO Shailesh Hazela confirmed that the first electric Jeep will be a B‑segment model built on Tata Motors’ ARGOS architecture – a platform shared by the Nexon and other Tata EVs.
Jeep’s roadmap covers B (sub‑compact), C (mid‑size) and D (large) segments, plus a D‑segment pickup, meaning the brand is aiming to cater to every segment that Indian buyers are already familiar with.
Hazela said every future Jeep will offer at least one 4x4 variant, underscoring the brand’s DNA. The electric version’s 4x4 layout would set it apart from rivals like the Hyundai Kona EV, which offers only rear‑wheel drive.
By leveraging local engineering and Tata’s production base, Jeep hopes to keep costs competitive while retaining premium positioning. That could translate into a price point somewhere midway between the Tata Nexon EV (₹13.79 lakh) and the MG ZS EV (₹15.49 lakh).
The broader Stellantis launch program starts in Q2 2027, though the exact launch window for the Jeep EV is still under wraps. Buyers can expect to see a showroom rollout in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with the next few months offering more clarity.
