Three gunmen—Hrithik alias Roshan (22) from Bihar, and Rehan (18) and Phool Singh (18) from Haryana—opened fire on Tiger Shroff's car on Sunday evening in Mumbai's Juhu, after a local football match. Seven rounds struck the vehicle, shattering its front window. Shroff and his driver sustained injuries but were able to drive away before the gun jammed the last bullet.
Investigators say the men had flown into Mumbai with the intention of killing another high‑profile individual. When surveillance revealed that the target was out of reach, they shifted focus to Shroff, exploiting the actor's lack of police escort, a fact gleaned from fan‑posted reels. They had been monitoring Shroff's Instagram to time the assault.
A recorded audio released by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility, stating Shroff had been targeted because he declined to sever ties with Salman Khan. The gang warned that any actor refusing to align with them would be killed. The shooters received a Rs 50,000 advance and were promised additional money and overseas jobs after the assault.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Shroff at his residence on Monday, declaring that 'hooliganism' would not be tolerated in Mumbai. Shinde also announced a police crackdown on paramilitary groups involved in such attacks. The case has been forwarded to the Maharashtra Police's Special Investigation Team for further inquiry.
