On Tuesday, the Embassy of Oman in New Delhi staged a two‑day roadshow titled ‘Your Gateway to International Markets’ to showcase investment prospects in Oman’s ports and free‑zones.
Ambassador Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani told attendees that Sohar and other Omani ports are now the preferred launchpad for Indian manufacturers targeting the Middle East.
Co‑Chairman Hitender Mehta of ASSOCHAM noted the timing coincides with the India‑Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement that takes effect on 1 June 2026, urging Indian firms to tap Oman's infrastructure.
Sohar Port and its free‑zone ecosystem has already attracted over USD 30 billion in investment and processes more than 72 million tonnes of cargo annually, making it a prime venue for Indian exporters.
A textile exporter from Lucknow, Mr. Rajan Kumar, said the port’s proximity to Gulf markets could cut shipping times by up to 30%.
The roadshow will culminate on Wednesday with a series of B2B matchmaking sessions aimed at forming joint ventures and supply‑chain agreements, with formal investment approvals expected in the next two weeks.
