The Election Commission of India updated its Booth‑Level Officer (BLO) mobile app on July 31, adding a "Mark VIP" flag that lets officers earmark voters for notice issuance during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi’s electoral rolls.
The change came as SIR was already underway across 16 states and three Union territories, while 97 lakh Delhi voters were listed in the draft roll and 33.13 lakh had been flagged for discrepancies.
The feature will highlight voters such as Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, and others, who received official notices this week.
Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, Rajesh Kumar, said the app update was intended to streamline verification. However, CEC members Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi have publicly questioned the process, filing 14 objections over possible roll deletions.
The final Delhi electoral roll will be published on November 4, and opposition leaders are preparing a parliamentary question on the integrity of the SIR exercise.
