CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke posted on X on March 15, 2026 that opposition parties should abandon elections now that the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the 2025 electoral rolls is being challenged as a rigging scheme.
Dipke’s tweet was a direct follow‑up to the CJP’s earlier demand that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar step down within 48 hours, or the party would launch a nationwide protest dubbed "Jantar Mantar 2.0".
The SIR controversy began when Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi lodged written objections over voter additions, deletions and data handling, according to a report in The Indian Express. The Election Commission has insisted that all decisions, including the SIR, were reached unanimously.
In addition to the resignation demand, the CJP has asked for a freeze on upcoming elections, a rollback of the SIR to the 2025 roll, and reforms to the law that appoints Election Commissioners.
The next development will be the CEC’s response to the resignation ultimatum and the political parties’ decision on whether to heed Dipke’s boycott call.
