The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch brought in Dineshbhai Arjanbhai Desai, a 54‑year‑old broker from Sagar Samrat Apartment, Vejalpur, after a relentless pursuit that began in 2002.
A cold‑blooded killing in Dungli village, Pali district, involved Desai’s group ramming their SUV into the target’s motorcycle, killing him on the spot and leaving a Tata Sumo abandoned to frame the death as a hit‑and‑run.
Desai evaded Rajasthan police for 24 years, slipping through the cracks by changing jobs and residences while a reward was offered for tips that would lead to his capture.
Using sharp intelligence and identity verification, the crime branch tracked Desai to his Vejalpur flat and secured his arrest without incident.
He will now be transferred to Sadri Police for trial; court hearings are slated for the coming month.
