Amit Jhanwar filed a complaint after his father was struck by a speeding car at 8:35 pm on August 27, roughly 100 metres from his Faridabad home.
The police registered an FIR on August 28 under Sections 106 and 281, but no driver has been apprehended and no charges have yet been brought.
Jhanwar, who works for Facebook, says CCTV footage shows the vehicle was travelling at extreme speed, giving his father no chance to avoid the collision. He argues the current charges are inadequate and calls for a full inquiry into the driver’s identity, possible intoxication, and phone use.
Police have seized the vehicle involved and are combing through 25,000 city cameras for leads. Brijesh of Mevla Maharajpur was questioned on September 3, yet no arrests remain.
The case has left the Jhanwar family distraught; Amit described his father’s death as a 'shocking loss' that could have been prevented if the police had acted faster. He urges the authorities to expedite the probe.
The police now plan to release a detailed report by September 30, after completing a review of all CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.
