Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya administered the oath to Nivedita Anil Sharma, Nisha Sahay Saxena, Sanjay Sharma, Bharat Parashar, Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt and Arun Bhardwaj, all of whom had served as judicial officers in the district courts.
The swearing‑in ceremony was held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the High Court premises, following central government notification dated September 19.
The Supreme Court collegium had earlier recommended the seven appointments, a move the government approved to address the court’s growing caseload.
With the addition, Delhi High Court’s bench rises from 43 to 50, inching closer to its sanctioned 60‑judge capacity and easing the backlog of over 3,000 pending cases.
The new judges will immediately begin hearing cases, a development expected to cut waiting times for litigants across the capital.
