Ashutosh Ranka, co‑convener of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), used X on Wednesday to state that the party’s protest scheduled for Oct 2 will be confined to Shivaji Park in Mumbai, ending rumors that it would march in Delhi, Pune and other cities.
The party, which rose to prominence in 2023 after a viral campaign against a high‑profile politician, has previously claimed to hold simultaneous demonstrations in multiple urban centres. Earlier this month, a series of social‑media posts from unknown handles suggested that CJP would mobilise in at least five cities.
No official statements from the Mumbai Police or city officials have yet confirmed the exact route or security arrangements for the protest. The clarification was issued amid a wave of misinformation that had circulated on WhatsApp and other platforms.
Ranka added that CJP would announce future city‑wide protests at a later date, and that details would be shared through its social‑media channels. The party’s announcement comes ahead of the city’s annual marathon, which organisers warned could clash with the protest’s timing.
