The order brings 840 electric buses into Delhi’s public transport system, split evenly between 9‑m and 12‑m AC models.
Antony Road Transport Solutions, selected under the CESL PM E‑Drive Phase I tender, will run the fleet for the Delhi Transport Corporation and the Transport Department.
Both bus sizes sit on SWITCH Mobility’s EiV platform, featuring modular batteries, regenerative braking and dual‑gun fast charging that slash turnaround time. Passenger‑friendly touches include low‑floor access, USB charging points and safety systems like fire suppression and multi‑level battery protection.
The deal not only propels Delhi’s EV agenda but also nudges rivals such as Ashok Leyland—linked to the operator through the Hinduja Group—into the EV race.
Full deployment is slated for the latter half of 2026, giving commuters cleaner, more reliable rides across the capital.
