At about 1 a.m. on Friday, an under‑construction two‑storey building in Chhatari town of Bulandshahr district collapsed, trapping three workers beneath the rubble.
Police, fire brigade, SDRF, NDRF, and a Multi‑Disaster Response Vehicle from neighboring Aligarh rushed to the site within minutes. The teams used hydraulic cutters and manual labor to pry open the collapsed beams and extract the victims.
All three were rescued, with the woman in stable condition and the two men taken to District Hospital for treatment of crush injuries. The rescue operation was praised for its speed and coordination.
The district administration has ordered a forensic inspection of the site and will investigate possible violations of the Building and Housing Development Act. An inquiry team will report findings to the state government by the end of the week.
This incident follows a similar collapse in Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area earlier this month, which claimed two lives. Authorities warn that lax enforcement of construction standards continues to pose risks across the state.
