Mohammad Sajid Ibrahim Mulla, 51, was taken into custody by the Surat Special Operations Group after a raid on his Gopipura medical shop.
Mulla allegedly siphoned liquid from one‑liter and five‑liter cans of Himalaya Liv.52 Protec, a veterinary supplement, and pumped it into 60‑ml and 100‑ml bottles labelled as Himalaya Liv.52 Drops, a paediatric product.
He sold the counterfeit drops at twice the price, while police seized 31,195 rupees worth of misbranded bottles and ancillary materials.
An FIR was lodged at Athwa police station under sections 123, 125, 336, and 278 of the Indian Penal Code, charging him with poison‑related injury, negligence, forgery, and misrepresentation.
Officials urged anyone who bought the product to seek medical care immediately and to verify authenticity with their doctors.
The case now proceeds to a criminal trial in Surat court.
