Kalaburagi's stray dog problem has resurfaced after a tragic incident last week, drawing attention from parents and local leaders alike.
The victim, Manoj Poojari Jambaga, 4, was the son of Sharanabasappa Poojari, a watchman who lives with his family in Kotnoor.
Manoj was playing near the Ganadevata Temple when a stray dog lunged, leaving him with severe injuries that could not be saved despite urgent transport to a nearby hospital.
The case follows two other attacks on children in the state: a girl named Sanvi, who suffered facial wounds from a pack of dogs in Meenahabal village, and a boy called Gopal who suffered scalp injuries in Raichur city earlier this year.
Residents have demanded city officials step up containment measures, citing the recurring threat to young lives and the need for stricter animal control.
The municipal council is expected to convene a meeting next week to discuss a comprehensive stray dog management plan and potential vaccination drives.
