Pakistani airstrikes on alleged militant camps in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa–Afghan border zone reportedly neutralised 28 insurgents, including suicide bombers, the army said—an operation that the ministry insists was a defensive necessity.
Tarar, speaking at a PTI‑sponsored seminar, reminded attendees that the interim Afghan government has denied that its territory hosts foreign militants, a claim Islamabad has contested for years amid rising border skirmishes.
He warned that Pakistan’s repeated high‑level delegations, and the mediation efforts of Qatar, Turkey and China, have stalled because the Taliban has not addressed the core security concern of cross‑border sanctuaries.
The minister also highlighted human rights concerns, noting reports of crackdowns on civil society and restrictions on women’s mobility in the Taliban‑led regime.
Pakistan will keep diplomatic pressure on Kabul while maintaining the option of targeted airstrikes should the Taliban fail to curb cross‑border insurgency.
