A 19‑year‑old Delhi youth, fresh out of Tihar Jail, told Delhi Police that friends and social media lured him into a gang run by the Lawrence Bishnoi network that claimed responsibility for the Sunday evening shooting of Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The claim rattled the city.
He said that after being released, a group of friends welcomed him back, promising he could earn ‘₹50,000 a month’ if he followed their instructions.
Another 20‑year‑old, accused of murder, revealed that he had been a good student before the gang offered him a chance to become an MMA fighter, but the lure of quick money pushed him into a cycle he now feels trapped in.
Prison itself becomes a recruitment ground; the 19‑year‑old recalled meeting gang leaders inside Tihar, who used cell‑phones and smuggled money to maintain control from inside.
Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s claim of responsibility for the Shroff shooting has prompted Delhi Police to launch a probe into how such gangs recruit youths in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, with officials stating the investigation will culminate in a court hearing scheduled for November 12.
