Kasim Khan posted on X that police had entered his relatives’ homes in Lahore, forced the women and children into vehicles, and left no explanation.
This wave of detentions follows Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan’s 30‑day hold under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. The order, signed by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz, cited alleged roadblocks and PTI worker mobilization. Aleema was later moved to Kot Lakhpat jail, a move that critics claim is politically motivated.
PTI’s legal chief Gohar Ali Khan slammed the arrests, demanding the release of Aleema and the relatives. He warned that the crackdown could inflame tensions before the planned protest on September 27, which aims to pressure the government into releasing Khan from jail.
Kasim has called on international bodies to intervene, labeling the detentions as "criminal behaviour." The police have yet to issue a statement, and the families remain silent about the relatives’ condition.
Authorities are expected to announce the whereabouts of the detained relatives by the end of the week, while PTI gears up for the mass march on the 27th.
