India Pistons has named Suresh KV as its new chief executive officer, a change that takes effect on 14 October 2026.
Suresh KV, who spent 18 years steering ZF India’s strategy across 18 plants and eight engineering centres, brings a deep‑rooted understanding of manufacturing scale and quality control that could translate into tighter production timelines and lower component costs for the company’s big‑name clients.
Over the past decade, India Pistons has supplied over ₹9.5 billion worth of gearboxes, axles and transmissions to Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and others. Those same components now sit in the powertrains of cars that are set to become 90 % of the market share by 2030 under the National EV Policy.
With the new CEO at the helm, the company is poised to double its plant capacity within five years, a move that could ease the current bottlenecks in the supply chain for high‑performance gearboxes that are critical for fast‑charging electric vehicles. The expansion is also a direct response to the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ push for local component manufacturing under the Make in India 4.0 framework.
In a landscape where Bosch and Mahindra are already pushing for higher integration of electric drivetrain components, India Pistons’ revamped leadership will likely drive partnerships on modular, lightweight gear systems that cut both weight and cost. Buyers can expect a new line of compact, high‑torque gearboxes that fit the latest compact EV models by mid‑2028.
The company will roll out its first upgraded production line in Chennai by Q3 2027, with supply to Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki beginning in early 2028. Watch for a potential tie‑up with a local battery manufacturer, as the company hints at exploring synergistic packaging solutions to reduce overall vehicle weight.
