BYD’s Denza, a new luxury arm, is set to hit Indian roads next year. The launch, slated for 13 Nov 2026, brings two models that sit above the company’s mainstream EVs.
The Z9 GT packs a 122.5kWh battery and a triple‑motor layout that churns out 1,156 hp. It can sprint from 0‑100 kph in 2.7 seconds, hit a top speed of 270 kph, and cover 600 km on a WLTP cycle. Charging is a highlight: a 1,500 kW DC charger can push the battery from 10 % to 97 % in just nine minutes.
The D9, a luxury MPV, uses a 103kWh pack and a single front‑mounted motor that gives 313 hp and 360 Nm of torque. Its WLTP range tops out at 520 km, and it can be topped up to 200 kW fast. Inside, the MPV offers heated captain’s seats, three‑zone climate control, and full leather upholstery.
In terms of competition, the D9 goes head‑to‑head with the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire on the comfort front, while the Z9 GT challenges high‑performance electric sedans like the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan in terms of power and acceleration.
Policy‑wise, India’s electric‑vehicle incentives—such as a 10% import duty on EVs and a 15% duty on batteries—could tilt the cost equation. The premium price tags of Denza’s models mean buyers will likely rely on any available tax rebates to bring the net cost closer to competitors in the same bracket.
Mark your calendars: the official launch is 13 Nov 2026, with first‑hand sales expected in major metros by early 2027. Test‑drive events and dealer rollout plans will follow, giving enthusiasts a chance to feel the Z9 GT’s raw torque and the D9’s cabin luxury before the doors open.
