Subrat Manocha was taken into custody on September 23 after police linked him to the murder of his 60‑year‑old father, Vineet Manocha, whose throat was slit in his Indira Nagar flat on September 5.
Investigators traced six calls from a newly purchased SIM to Subrat, and recovered deleted chats that tied him and former employee Vishal Gautam to the plot.
The plan initially aimed to stage an accidental death but was altered after the father’s relationships with multiple women were revealed.
Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said the conspiracy was uncovered through call‑detail records, CCTV footage, and digital evidence.
He added that Vishal had claimed Subrat promised him Rs 6 lakh to carry out the killing.
Subrat admitted during interrogation that he feared his father would transfer property to a lover and that the motive stemmed from a monthly allowance of Rs 40,000, while he paid Rs 55,000 in loan instalments.
His wife, Shalu, broke down at the station, stating she was merely protecting him.
The case will be heard by the Kanpur Sessions Court on October 15, where Subrat is expected to face charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy.
