A potential buyer looking for a high‑performance supermotard will notice the Ducati Hypermotard V2’s 120hp, 94Nm output from its 890cc V‑twin—an engine that drops a full 54.4kg, making it the lightest twin Ducati’s ever produced.
The IVT variable‑intake system ensures 70% of peak torque at just 3,000rpm, giving instant bite while a racing exhaust bumps power to 123.6hp and trims weight by another 4kg.
The fourth‑generation frame is monocoque, using the engine as a structural backbone and paired with a double‑sided aluminium swingarm. Compared to the first‑generation Hypermotard, the V2 is 13kg lighter and the V2 SP 14kg lighter, while both sit 880mm high and adopt a super‑motard stance with wide handlebars and repositioned footpegs.
Suspension and brakes split the variants: the V2 SP sports fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 48mm forks and a STX46 rear monoshock, forged aluminium wheels, Brembo M50 calipers and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres, whereas the base V2 uses Kayaba 46mm U‑forks, a Kayaba rear monoshock, cast alloy wheels and Brembo M4.32 calipers.
Electronics are as sophisticated as the chassis: a six‑axis IMU feeds cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and Quick‑Shift 2.0 into a 5‑inch TFT display. The SP adds Power Launch and a pit limiter, and its battery is lithium instead of the lead‑acid found on the V2.
In the price‑to‑performance war, the ₹16.53 lakh V2 sits just below the ₹20.78 lakh V2 SP but still above Yamaha’s MT‑15 and Honda’s CBR‑250R, while offering a full suite of electronics and a lighter chassis.
Bookings are already open across Ducati dealerships, with test rides available in major metros. Delivery is slated for the coming months, as production ramps up to meet demand across the country.
Keep an eye on the upcoming launch event in Mumbai and Delhi, where Ducati will unveil a limited‑edition livery and offer special financing for early adopters.
