The latest data shows Hyundai’s registrations surged 30% YoY to about 41,000 units in the Shradh and Navratri period, a figure that eclipses the 34,000‑plus units it logged the same stretch last year.
The surge comes on a backdrop of a 26.76% rise in total automotive retail sales across India during the same window, with passenger cars up 10.39% and two‑wheelers climbing 32.41%. Hyundai’s share of that pie is still modest but growing, and the numbers hint that buyers are leaning toward its newer, technology‑heavy models.
Speaking to the press, Tarun Garg, Hyundai’s MD & CEO, said the brand’s “booking pace” is strong enough to keep momentum through Dhanteras and Diwali. He didn’t reveal exact booking tallies, but the buzz around the BAYON, slated to debut early next week, is already shaping conversations in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune.
The BAYON is a compact SUV that promises a 115-hp engine, a 5‑door body, a 15.6‑inch infotainment screen, and a price tag that starts at ₹13.70 lakh. For buyers, those specs translate to a mid‑range price point with a modern feature set that rivals the Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV300.
Urban and rural markets are both showing healthy demand, and Hyundai’s distribution network is expanding to meet the surge. The brand’s dealerships have been opening new service bays in Tier‑2 cities, and the company is reportedly offering a 12‑month free maintenance package on the BAYON for early adopters.
Look ahead: the BAYON will hit showrooms by the first week of November, aligning with the peak of the Diwali shopping spree. Buyers who lock in early may secure better pricing or complimentary accessories, as Hyundai’s pre‑launch inventory is limited. Keep an eye on the rollout in Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata, where the brand has historically seen the fastest uptake for new models.
