Police entered the Lodha Belmondo flat at 3:15 a.m. on Oct 24, finding Mugdha Deshmukh deceased with no visible injuries.
Deshmukh had left London at the end of August for an MBA and had been living alone in Pune since August, but her family had not been aware of her return.
Her father discovered food‑delivery payments from Oct 8 to 25 on her bank statement, all originating from the Osamanpura area, prompting the family to suspect she had come back earlier.
Senior Inspector Devendra Chavan said the police used a keymaker to gain entry and found the body, noting there were no visible signs of trauma.
The family, devastated, has requested a thorough investigation, while the police have opened a murder inquiry and will review all financial records for clues.
