Riddhima Sharma, 25, claimed her likeness was face‑swapped onto PM Modi’s portrait by the Cockroach Janta Party during a protest at Jantar Mantar.
The unauthorized image was printed on large banners that were raised before crowds, where demonstrators shouted slogans that personally targeted Sharma’s name and image.
Delhi Cyber Police filed an FIR on Thursday, invoking Sections 66A and 67 of the Information Technology Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The complaint lists the protest organisers – Saurbah Das, Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Ratna Singh – but no accused have been named yet.
Investigators are probing every stage of the incident – from the digital manipulation, printing and public display to the videos circulated on Instagram and other social media platforms. A court hearing is expected next month to decide whether the accused can be formally charged.
