Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian slammed the Enforcement Directorate’s raid on his nephew’s Ludhiana house on Thursday, alleging the operation harassed a widow, children and a pregnant wife.
The search, which lasted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., saw officers question a small girl about why she lived with the family and held a one‑month‑old baby for hours without allowing her to be fed. A widow and her young daughter were left standing in the kitchen, while a pregnant wife was made to endure four hours of waiting without being offered a seat.
Despite finding nothing but old household items, the officials handed the family a written record that claimed no evidence was recovered, prompting Mundian to demand an explanation. He accused BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu of orchestrating the raid, citing Bittu’s claim that he had moved to America after his ticket was cut and that he had supposedly opened a "travel agency" to book flights for AAP leaders.
Mundian framed the incident as a political intimidation tactic, arguing that the BJP is using fear to win elections after failing to generate enthusiasm at rallies. He said the party’s strategy mirrors earlier attempts to pressure Delhi‑based AAP leaders such as Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia, noting that those cases also culminated in court proceedings.
He declared that Punjab would not be intimidated by ED raids or threats, asserting "We are Punjabis and we aren’t afraid." The minister reaffirmed AAP’s commitment to honesty, calling for a transparent inquiry into the raid and warning that the party will not abandon its principles.
