Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander walked out of a Manhattan federal courthouse on Tuesday as convicted sex traffickers, each facing 30 years behind bars. Judge Valerie E. Caproni handed down the sentence for drugging and raping 70 women over a twenty-year period, a ruling that caps a legal battle spanning from 2008 to 2024. The brothers, who leveraged their status as real estate moguls and private security executives to lure victims to Hamptons estates and Aspen resorts, were found guilty in March of sex trafficking and conspiracy.
The courtroom had been packed with survivors who endured the brothers' abuse in luxury settings. Maya Miller, raped by Tal in 2014, told the judge she carries a quiet funeral for the person she might have become. Lindsey Acree, an artist assaulted in 2011, directed her anger at the men, asking why they demonstrated such hatred toward women. At least a dozen other victims testified, describing how the brothers used spiked drinks and social manipulation to silence their victims.
The defense argued the encounters were consensual and that the brothers were merely womanizers, a claim Judge Caproni rejected. She labeled their conduct monstrous and noted that their crimes wreaked havoc on the lives of the accused women. Despite the brothers' insistence that they never drugged or raped anyone, the court accepted the overwhelming evidence of a systematic pattern of abuse that began in high school around 2001.
The sentence includes an additional 20 years for separate crimes, which Caproni ordered to run concurrently with the 30-year term. Tal Alexander asked that the trio be housed in the same facility so their 70-year-old parents could visit all three at once. The brothers will now begin serving their sentences, having been held without bail since their arrest in 2024.
