Air India and Air India Express have suspended all flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam until 14 November 2026. The airlines announced the move on 30 October 2026, following escalating security threats in the region. The decision follows attacks on civilian infrastructure, including a strike on Dammam airport that killed an Indian national and injured two others.
Air India said passengers with confirmed bookings issued on or before 30 October 2026 for travel up to 14 November 2026 can rebook to any operational Air India station in Saudi Arabia for travel up to 29 November 2026, subject to seat availability, or cancel for a full refund. Air India Express offered a similar option, allowing rebooking to any operational station in Saudi Arabia or Bahrain.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed it is coordinating with airlines and tour operators to bring back stranded Indian pilgrims. Hundreds of pilgrims have returned in the past month, and over 10,000 normal Umrah pilgrims have also travelled back.
Passengers can contact the airlines' call centres or city booking offices for assistance, with Air India contact numbers +91 11 69329333 and +91 11 69329999, and Air India Express +91 124 6935600.
