Reserve Bank of India released its weekly statistical supplement on Friday, reporting that gold holdings fell $2.650 billion to $103.150 billion.
Foreign currency assets, the backbone of the reserve, rose $1.358 billion to $593.205 billion, offsetting part of the gold loss.
Other components shifted unevenly—Special Drawing Rights nudged up $27 million to $18.605 billion, while the RBI’s IMF reserve slipped $4 million to $4.787 billion.
The total foreign exchange reserves sit at $719.748 billion, $28.640 billion above the March 2026 figure, the RBI said.
At the same time, the RBI noted that outstanding bank credit grew 18.2% year‑on‑year to Rs 227.43 lakh crore, a sharp jump from 11.6% the previous year.
Deposits climbed 16.7% yoy to Rs 278.76 lakh crore, and broad money supply—M3—expanded 16% year‑on‑year, signalling robust liquidity.
These movements will inform the RBI’s forthcoming monetary policy review, as the central bank balances reserve stability against credit expansion.
