If you’ve been eyeing a mid-size adventure bike but felt stuck between the aggressive KTM 390 Adventure and the value-packed Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Benelli just dropped a new contender. The TRK 552 starts at Rs 7.22 lakh (ex-showroom), with the off-road tuned 552X following at Rs 7.74 lakh. A Limited Edition variant of the 552X tops the lineup at Rs 7.90 lakh. Bookings are open now across all Benelli Keeway dealerships, meaning you can likely walk into a showroom this week and discuss delivery timelines.
Under the skin, this isn’t just a badge swap for the outgoing TRK 502. Benelli has crammed in a new 554cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 52 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 49 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. That twin-cylinder setup should feel significantly smoother at highway speeds compared to the single-cylinder rivals, which is exactly what you want when you’re cruising at 100 km/h for hours. The six-speed gearbox includes a slipper clutch, a nice touch for reducing rear-wheel chatter during aggressive downshifts on tight mountain roads.
The hardware is where the 552 series really separates itself from entry-level adventurers. You get a 50 mm Marzocchi upside-down fork up front, paired with twin 320 mm floating discs and Bosch dual-channel ABS. The cockpit features a 5-inch TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation and T-BOX connectivity, so your phone stays in your pocket. Both variants come with heated grips and a heated seat—small luxuries that make a massive difference on a cold morning ride in the hills. The 20-litre fuel tank is also a welcome upgrade for range anxiety.
Choosing between the two variants comes down to your riding style. The standard TRK 552 is the highway machine, rolling on 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli tires, offering 190 mm of ground clearance and an 835 mm seat height. If you’re leaning more towards trail riding, the TRK 552X switches to wire-spoked wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) shod with Metzeler tires, bumping up ground clearance to 210 mm and raising the seat to 860 mm. Both bikes weigh a consistent 235 kg, so expect a planted, stable feel rather than a featherweight nimble character.
Vikas Jhabakh, Managing Director at Benelli India, emphasized that the new engine and chassis upgrades are designed for riders who want to explore beyond the tarmac. With the launch complete, the next step is dealer stock arrival. If you’re in the market, visit your nearest authorized dealer to check for immediate availability, as early deliveries often go to the first batch of bookings.
