The brand’s latest 155cc hero, the R15 V4, just slipped into the market at ₹1.75 lakh, boasting an 18.14‑hp engine and a claimed 45 kmpl mileage.
It follows a lineup of six Yamaha bikes under ₹2 lakh, from the economy‑grade FZ‑S Fi at ₹1.20 lakh to the fully faired R15 V4. The FZ‑S Fi offers a hybrid 149cc engine that claims 53 kmpl, while the FZ‑X and its hybrid sibling sit slightly cheaper at ₹1.26–₹1.45 lakh. The XSR 155 and MT‑15 V2 both use the same 18.14‑hp unit but differ in styling, weight and tech packages.
Compared to the Hero Avenger 150, whose 14.5‑hp engine tops out at 48 kmpl, the R15 V4’s 18.14‑hp gives it a clear acceleration edge while still keeping the mileage claim close. Bajaj Pulsar 150, which sits around ₹1.30 lakh, offers 15‑hp and 50 kmpl, so the R15 V4 is the only fully faired option in the segment that balances power, efficiency and a modern look.
The bike comes in a single variant for now, with a matte titanium finish and standard 18‑spoke wheels. Features include a 5‑inch TFT screen with navigation, dual‑channel ABS, traction control and a quick‑shift up‑shift on select trims. A 10‑litre tank keeps the range respectable for daily commutes.
Yamaha has set the launch for April 2026, with initial deliveries slated for Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. After that, other metros will follow in the next quarter. Buyers should keep an eye on the price after dealer discounts, and watch for the introduction of a lower‑spec variant that could bring the R15 V4 closer to the 1.5 lakh bracket.
