Volvo Car India has just promoted Anuj Somani to Head of Integrated Marketing and Performance—this is the first major shift in the company’s marketing hierarchy in years.
Somani steps into a role that brings all brand planning, digital campaigns and performance marketing under one umbrella, a change that could streamline how Volvo talks to its audience and what stories it tells about its SUVs and sedans.
He took the reins in September 2026, after a stint as Head of Marketing Operations from April 2025 to August 2026, where he championed retailer marketing and digital channels.
Prior to that, Somani joined Volvo in October 2021 as Senior Marketing Manager for Brand, climbed to Senior Marketing Manager for Brand and Retailer Marketing in April 2024, and has over 16 years of experience across automotive and manufacturing sectors.
With a background that ranges from LIXIL’s marketing communications to Mahindra & Mahindra’s brand management, Somani brings a wealth of cross‑industry insight that could help Volvo fine‑tune its messaging on the road to a more consumer‑centric strategy.
For buyers, the real question is whether this leadership change will translate into clearer, more resonant campaigns—especially as Volvo rolls out new EVs and compact SUVs that aim to capture the growing Indian market.
Industry watchers will be watching how quickly the new structure delivers measurable results, such as increased showroom traffic, higher online engagement, and ultimately better sales figures.
The appointment comes at a time when the Indian EV mandate is tightening, import duties are shifting, and local competition is intensifying, making effective brand communication more critical than ever.
Volvo’s next public launch is slated for early 2027, with city‑wide availability starting in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The company’s new marketing strategy will be on full display then, and buyers should keep an eye on how well the brand’s messaging aligns with their expectations for safety, technology and value.
