The new Bhiwandi hub can swap a heavy‑duty truck’s battery in less than five minutes, a dramatic improvement over the 30‑minute-plus plug‑in times seen on most charging stations. For logistics fleets, that means fewer hours stuck in a pit stop and more time on the road.
Bhiwandi is the first stop on the Mumbai‑Pune Electric Freight Corridor, which Blue Energy Motors rolled out in October 2025. The corridor is already a testbed for electric freight, and the swapping hub stitches the route together with a quick‑turn service that could set a new industry standard.
HPCL’s retail network is leveraged to host the hub, giving the station access to a wide reach of service stations across Maharashtra. The complex isn’t just for trucks; it also hosts public chargers for two‑wheelers and four‑wheelers, making the site a multi‑vehicle energy centre.
The partnership was formalised in January 2026, and CEO Anand Mimani said the first hub is a “meaningful step forward.” He added that the plan is to roll out more swapping and charging points in other key markets, aiming to keep freight operators moving without long downtime.
The Bhiwandi station is already operational, but the next few months will see additional hubs pop up in Pune, Kolhapur, and beyond. Buyers and fleet managers should keep an eye on the rollout schedule and the availability of dedicated truck‑e‑charging subscriptions that could accompany future stations.
